BATTERY AND CARE
The INR21700 cell has a charge life of 300-500 cycles. This means charging twice a week; you would expect the battery to last between 5 and 10 years. However, although the battery has been built into the bike, the battery is easily swapped (within 10 minutes) to a new one. Removal of eight screws opens the bottom lid where you can slide it out and replace it.
- Lithium batteries are very powerful; they offer the most power available in a small package, with up to 300-Watt hours per kg.
- They must be kept at a cool operating range (we have designed the battery around this requirement).
- Water should not be able to get into the cells causing shorts. DO NOT submerge the bike in water. The electronic components are splash proof only.
- The battery should never be punctured (this could short the terminals).
- The Battery Management system should detect anomalies and shut the system down.
Lithium Batteries can also be hazardous if, with a very low chance, something should ever go wrong in the system.
There have been a few cases in the industry where your electric car or bike suddenly starts to smoke. This will mean your battery has entered a runaway phase, meaning something significant has gone wrong internally.
The battery will generate oxygen, so putting it out when it begins to flame up will be difficult. So, if it's safe, try to locate the bike in an area away from flammable materials.
- Safety is one of the core reasons we have fixed the battery in the bike frame.
- This simple design means you likely won't be wheeling the bike into your house or your local coffee shop to charge it.
- Just consider why we don't store our fuel tanks in flammable areas.
- So, you should keep your bike away from flammable materials when charging.
- We offer a weatherproof cover for outdoor storage and charging.
Charge the battery to approximately 50% capacity at least once every six months. In general, is best to keep your battery between 30-95%. Operating the bike under 30% stresses your battery cells. When in storage the battery should be un-plugged and stored at 50% charge.
The battery is not designed as being hot swapped, but in 10 minutes you can remove your battery via eight screws.
No, you should only use the charger supplied with the bike. This is a big safety concern!
Realistically you shouldn't be bringing your battery into your house (or any other fire potential areas – a battery is like flammable fuel) for charging. The safest option for charging is to have it charged as far away from any flammable areas as possible. The bike is larger; It should be charged in a safe area. Do not leave the bike charging unattended.
The battery is waterproof to IP65. This splash proof.
Ultimately, the battery cost is approximately 1/3 the bike's price, making purchasing a second battery highly unlikely. Better to engineer a solid, safe alternative as we have done with the XOVR range of electric motorbikes. A new battery may be purchased if your old battery is aged. It takes 10 minutes to switch.
Charging a XOVR X1 electric motorbike will take 4-6 hours.
No, the battery does not need to be removed when charging. The touch screen lights up when charging and provides updates.
BIKE
This is a weight-dependent issue. We have put the most power into the back wheel, which helps with hill climbing. You can also lean forward, placing more weight on the front wheel, where you will find a little more power. But generally speaking, a single rider should be able to make a 20-degree incline. A loaded bike with a 150kg load will be able to make a 7-degree incline.
Both front and rear suspension are adjustable to suit hardness or comfort. This also can lower the seat level for height reduction options.
Yes, you can; the bike battery is waterproof and rated to IP65. DO NOT submerge the bike in water, there is electronic wiring under the seating area, and the hub motors are vulnerable through the shaft seals.
As with most gear, there is still a level of maintenance required:
- Tyre pressure.
- Battery charging considerations as above.
- Break hydraulic fluids check over.
- Keeping the bike clean from excess mud and dirt.
- Maintenance of on-road lighting requirements, bulbs etc.
Check your local legislation and ensure you have the necessary equipment to transport a passenger. A second passenger seat can be purchased through the shop as an attachment. You must not exceed the weight limit. The bike will carry 150kg.
SPECIFICATIONS AND MECHANICS
A XOVR X1 offers riders 80 to 150 km range. Dependent on terrain, load being carried and drive method.
The bike is limited to 50km an hour.
The bike's weight is between 80 Kg in its basic format.
CLEANING AND WASHING
Wash your bike after every off-roading session, especially if it's retained mud, dirt, grease, and grime. A light, weekly wash for urban commuters will ensure the bike delivers on performance. Water should be set at low pressure, keep water away from the screen speaker ports, hub seals and electronic components directly under the seat.
Do not use a high-pressure hose. A standard garden hose, soft cloth, and soft-bristled brush are all you need to keep your XOVR bike clean.
WARRANTY
We offer a one-year or 1000km (whichever is earlier) limited return-to-base warranty on most elements. Consumable parts such as the tyres and brake pads are not covered.
